Feeding & Care
-
If you see a lot of hummingbird activity, hanging multiple feeders can reduce territorial disputes and let more birds feed at once. Place them a few feet apart if possible.
-
During migration or in warm weather, hummingbirds can empty feeders quickly. Check your feeder daily to ensure it stays full and fresh.
-
In colder regions where hummingbirds migrate, you can take your feeder down once you haven’t seen any birds for 1–2 weeks. In milder climates (like the Pacific Northwest, California, and the Southeast), some hummingbirds stay all winter — so you can leave your feeder up.
-
If feeding through winter, you can:
Bring your feeder inside overnight and put it back out in the morning.
Use a heated feeder or wrap it with outdoor-safe heat tape.
Place it in a sheltered spot, like under an overhang.
-
Hang your feeder in a shady or partially shaded spot, ideally near flowers, and somewhere you can enjoy watching the birds.
-
In addition to a nectar feeder, plant native flowers with red, orange, or tubular-shaped blooms. Hummingbirds also appreciate small perches and a water source.
About Flutter Fuel™
-
Flutter Fuel™ is an all-natural, dye-free hummingbird nectar mix made from pure cane sugar — pre-measured for perfect portions every time. Just add hot water, stir, cool, and pour into your feeder.
-
Red dye is unnecessary and potentially harmful to hummingbirds. Our bright feeder ports and natural nectar attract them safely.
-
Yes — Flutter Fuel™ works with any standard hummingbird feeder. Simply mix and fill as directed.
-
Each pouch makes approximately 16 ounces of fresh, feeder-ready nectar.
-
It’s easy:
Mix one pouch with 16 ounces of hot water.
Stir until dissolved.
Let cool before filling your feeder.
-
Keep unopened pouches in a cool, dry place. Once mixed, use nectar within a few days and keep refrigerated if not in the feeder.
-
We recommend changing nectar every 3–4 days, or sooner if it becomes cloudy — especially in hot weather.
Feeders & Maintenance
-
Clean your feeder with warm, soapy water at least once a week, and rinse thoroughly. If mold develops, soak with a vinegar solution before rinsing.
-
Bees and ants are attracted to the sweet nectar too. Using feeders with bee guards and an ant moat can help keep them away.

Wildflower Seeds
-
Neonicotinoids are a type of insecticide widely used in agriculture. They can persist in plants and soil, and research has shown that even small amounts can harm bees, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators.
-
Seeds treated with neonicotinoids can expose pollinators to harmful chemicals as they feed. By using neonicotinoid-free seeds, you’re creating a safe environment that supports healthy, thriving pollinator populations in your garden.
-
We work with a trusted supplier that guarantees all of our wildflower blends are Non-GMO and never treated with neonicotinoids. This means every seed you plant helps protect pollinators and the environment.
